Wings For life world run:

Of all of the causes I have personally support, I am most passionate about Wings For Life World Run and what it stands for. The end goal is to fund spinal cord injury research to get paralysis victims back up on their feet, walking, running, and living their lives to the fullest.

The event itself is a global running event with several unique elements. Runs across the world all start at the exact same time, by adjusting the starting time in each time zone. Once the race begins, participants are not running towards a finish line, they are running away from it! A 'catcher car' leaves the starting point shortly after all participants have begun running, and gradually increases speed to close the gap between the runners.

I have helped organize the largescale run in Sunrise, Florida, as well as 3 runs in Orlando.

I have 2 close friends who's lives changed dramatically from spinal cord injuries, leaving them quadrapalegic. Keeping their challenges in mind has helped me to rally behind this cause, as well as set new milestones in my personal life.  I had never run more than 2 consecutive miles in my entire life, until I participated in this event. Every mile is grueling, painful, and exhausting. But when you think about that pain as a gift, it makes you realize how fortunate we are. Last year I ran 13.2 miles, in appreciation for the long road of spinal cord injury recovery. If you'd like to run for those who can't you can get involved on May 6th every year, or donate at https://www.wingsforlifeworldrun.com/us/en/.
