What the hell is the dojo?

Ah, yes.. The Dojo. A magical place of inclusivity, progression, creative expression, and pure fun. Put simply, The Dojo is a house in Gainesville where people go to get weird. More eloquently, The Dojo is a City of Gainesville certified venue that hosted over 200 events over 2 years. From Adventure Club and Griz to The Gainesville Jazz Festival, The Dojo is a blank canvas of possibility that welcomes unique events and their communities with open arms. 11 University of Florida student organizations host regular meetings here. 3 bands were created here. Over 20,000 people visited The Dojo from 2013-2014. It seems bizarre to have my college house listed on my portfolio, but it was truly a well-oiled machine of a business. It required daily communication, teamwork, problem solving, permitting, bathrooms, security, accounting, booking, marketing, maintenance, and the list goes on. The Dojo was a masters degree in experiential marketing, brand partnerships, and venue management. It was also the home to a mini-pig named Chillber, 10 chickens, an olympic trampoline, a halfpipe, and an average residence of 11 people.
